Barb *Blashke (Young)

Barbara Ann (Blaschke) Young if t Young WEST SALEM, Wis. -Barbara Ann (Blaschke) Young, 44, of West Salem died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, in her home after a battle with cancer. She was born March 6, 1959, in La Crosse to Jerry and Betty (Steckel) Blaschke. She married Michael P. Young on May 6, 1989. She graduated from Aquinas High School in 1977. She worked for more than 12 years at Onalaska High School. Barbie loved the Mississippi River and the Brownsville boat house. She also loved to bake, read and take early evening rides in their Jeep. She especially enjoyed designing and helping build their new "dream" home. She is survived by her husband, Michael; one daughter, Michelle; one stepson, Michael R. of Onalaska, Wis.; her father, Jerry of La Crosse; five brothers, Bob (Jeanie), Jim, Jerry (Wendy), Joe (Mary Kay) and John; five sisters, Jane (Tom) Skemp, Mary Moore, Ellen Blaschke, Ann( Chris) Carson and Joan Blaschke; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty, in 2002. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 17, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral. The Rev. Robert Cook will officiate, with burial to be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Blaschke Funeral Homes, 401 West Ave. S., La Crosse, from 4 to 8 p.m. today with a prayer service to be held at 7:30 p.m. Friends and family may also call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. The family would like to gratefully thank the special people at Franciscan Skemp Hospice Program, Sandy, Linda and Kathleen.

Miss you Barb every time I take a walk down West Avenue and see the old Blaschke Funeral Home.  I think of you often and remember our fun High School Days.   RIP my friend!
